A film-school crew, a Czech interior, and a newcomer cinematography award

Shot, cut and co-written by the same person, made through a film school, and it took Best Cinematography Newcomer at the UK Music Video Awards 2025.

Mikuláš Hrdlička shot "Flickers", edited it, and co-wrote it with Deborah Menšlová and director Petr Vlček. He won Best Cinematography in a Video – Newcomer at the UKMVA 2025 for it.

The concentration of roles in one person is the interesting part. A DP who is also cutting the film knows, while shooting, exactly what coverage the edit will and will not need. It is a luxury that disappears the moment a production gets big enough to have departments.
